Behind the Scenes: Inspirations
I’m always interested in and curious about what inspires artists to do what they do, and how a director chooses the look and feel to go with a particular story and begins to piece that together. I was able to get a minute with Conway Curve’s writer/director, Marian Yeager, to talk about her inspirations as a filmmaker, in general, and a peek at what will be in store for The Conway Curve fans…
So, what are some of your biggest inspirations?
I keep going back to Sixteen Candles and Adventures in Babysitting. I really like the story rhythm and how both hit the humor notes. John Hughes is a huge inspiration to me. All his comedies are huge influences to me. Though our film is no where near a Hughes film, The Conway Curve is definitely influenced by his work.
I know you were working on the color palette for The Conway Curve last time we chatted. How’s that developing?
Amelie and “Pushing Daisies“‘s color saturation are a big inspiration to my color map, and one film I want add to the mix is Guardians of the Galaxy. I love the look and feel to Guardian‘s and the camera work. It has that from the past feel but really is here and now. Also, its soundtrack is outstanding and so much a part of the feel of the film. I’d love to be to able to integrate our soundtrack in the same way.
I know I can’t wait to see how it all comes together! Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes stuff next Thursday.
