STATUS: In Development / Current Script Draft: 1 – Rewrite in Progress
When Death takes a vacay, her replacement, Mic Robes, happily steps in, callously ripping out souls. If Death can’t convince Mother Earth to reinstate her as head grim reaper, not only will Mic continue his brutal ways – Death will become mortal and at his mercy!
Nina is not your average teenager – She’s that supernatural being often referred to as Death – yup, that’s right – the grim reaper is a gal.
She has been over-worked for years; the last century in particular. The soul that pushes her over the edge belongs to Harold, a man who just had the gall to steal rosary beads from a church safe.
That’s right – High School.
Nina befriends June, a Japanese goth girl, Aden, a football player and Pam, a demon hiding out as a guidance counselor. Nina embraces learning with gusto, despite having to correct teachers in every class. June gets Nina a job at a funeral home where she works. Nina is thrilled, but guess what happens with Nina not around to do her usual job.
People who should be dead, but aren’t, are walking around like it’s a zombie convention.
That’s until Sub Death, AKA Mic Robes, is appointed Nina’s job. Suddenly purgatory processing centers can’t keep up with the souls Mic Robes is brutally amassing. Aden’s young sister Ruth is terminally ill. When Ruth passes, Nina witnesses Mic Robes cruel removal of her soul. Nina begs for her job back, but Mother Earth wants Nina to prove she’s deserves it. Mic Robes knows if Nina’s on earth long enough, she’ll turn mortal, he can kill her and keep her job. Luckily for Nina, Pam lets Harold know there’s something special about those rosary beads. They were carved from Moses’ staff and hold all its powers!
If they can get the rosary beads to Nina in time, there’s a chance in purgatory for a happy ending!
